Released New IPTV/OTT/DVB Solution - Version uC17
At UniqCast, we're constantly working on further improving all aspects of our IPTV/OTT/DVB platform and adding new features. In the latest release version uC17 we achieved several significant milestones and introduced exciting features to enhance the video streaming experience for our clients and their users.

Mobile Companion: uCast - Content Casting Redesign
With Mobile Companion, operators now have a powerful feature to reach new subscribers among the advanced users and the younger demographics. Seamlessly connecting sender devices such as mobiles, tablets, and web platforms with receiver devices like set-top boxes, uCast offers comprehensive play control options. What does this mean? Well, our uCast Mobile Companion, which revolutionizes content casting, control, and management enables subscribers to control the video streaming service using a tablet or a smartphone without the need for a remote control. Subscribers can easily discover content on the tablet/smartphone or web device and use drag and drop or other gestures (like long press) to start the content and switch it to the big screen. While watching content subscribers can effortlessly adjust the volume, switch channels, and even select subtitles, all from their mobile devices. This excellent feature ensures a consistent and intuitive user experience across multiple platforms, strengthening user satisfaction and loyalty.
Highlights - Support for Live, Catchup, and VOD Content
We have added support for the Highlights feature for the web application as well. The Highlights feature enables operators to highlight the most interesting parts of the content (goals in the game, scenes in a movie, critical moments in the news). They are shown on the player timeline and in the asset details info bar. Events can be added manually or via API. The feature is interesting and easy for subscribers to use and is easily managed on the operator’s side. It additionally simplifies content discovery for the subscribers and improves UX. With these enhancements available on STB, as well as mobile, tablet, and web platforms, you can offer a diverse range of content options, cater to user preferences, and maximize engagement.
Advertising Enhancements for Mobile/Tablet and Web Devices
Another enhancement in the platform’s version uC17 is the ability to seamlessly integrate with various ad service providers, including Google Ads and proprietary ad servers. UniqCast Advertising is a powerful tool that allows operators to create new revenue streams. The best part is that with our advertising management module, the operator has full control and management of their video advertising-driven services making it easy and convenient to use. Video advertisements can be played as pre-roll or mid-roll ads within various content assets, like VOD, CUTV events, Live TV channels, and NPVR events. UniqCast advertising solution offers the flexibility to serve personalized advertisements to each viewer based on their audience insights and ad campaign performance.
New Smart TV Client Version
We've also revamped the Smart TV client version, enhancing the user experience with a redesigned application dashboard, live channel support, and a dynamic live infobar accommodating live, catch-up, and time-shift content. This new Smart TV Client Version also brings a new version of vertical EPG. Vertical EPG represents a new concept of searching content and content discovery compared to the traditional grid-style EPG. With these enhancements, users can navigate effortlessly and enjoy an immersive viewing experience on Smart TV platforms.
EPG Data Import and Management Improvements
In the EPG section, we have added additional metadata that is also searchable allowing admins to save time when configuring the service. Admins can now see event external ID and parental rating visibility. These enhancements are available on the backend platform.
Support for Content Type Distinctiveness on Client Applications
We have added support for content filtering based on the distribution or network consumption type. Now, operators can set the video stream type for each channel (OTT Only, RTSP Only, OTT+RTSP), ensuring the proper display of error messages for unsupported channels or content. This support is available on STB and Mobile/Tablet/Web/Smart TV platforms. With this filtering subscribers are now able to quickly filter channels, again, enabling faster content discovery and great overall UX.
CDR Export
So far, the operators were able to export the generated CDR (Call Detail Record) records via API. Now they can also export it as a CSV file. This enhancement will further enhance and assist operators in making informed business decisions enabling them to use those CSV files to analyze and track purchase data. This feature is available as part of the backend system setup.
Visual Improvements for DVB-T and DVB-S Scan Screens for STB
We have listened to suggestions from our existing customers and improved the user experience. We have enhanced user navigation and interaction during DVB channel scanning or management. For example, users will now be able to configure satellites much easier and faster. We have also improved the process of deleting a channel.
TV Products - Presentation and Activation Control on STB App
Operators can now use their CRM to define and control which TV products will be shown to particular subscribers and at what price. This flexibility in tailoring product presentations to different subscribers will result in a more personalized user experience.
uStatia Backend Statistics Engine
We have additionally expanded our already extensive list of available reports that provide the operators with valuable data and insights for better performance insights and analytics. For example, the operator can get a report on high churn-risk subscribers enabling them to tackle the potential problem in time. In general, the new version of uStatia provides additional flexibility in tracking statistics related to service usage, also including the ability to create additional reports related to registered and active users, as well as churn-related statistics. It also allows for further grouping of reports and visualizing them in separate dashboards (e.g., subscriber-related, churn-related, concurrency-related...).
Geo Detection Database Improvements
We made improvements to our Geo Detection database, including the Maxmind auto-update feature for custom database rules and pushing them to required services. This simplifies the database update process without service downtime, ensuring up-to-date information across services.
Support for VPN Proxy Detection
For enhanced security measures, we now offer support for VPN proxy detection. This feature helps identify VPN usage, allowing operators to take appropriate actions. Please note that this feature may be subject to additional licensing.
